The parks and monuments of the southeastern Utah share some of the darkest skies remaining in the contiguous 48 United States. As few as one in ten Americans live in areas where they can see the estimated 2,500 stars that should be visible under normal conditions. During the spring and fall, Island in the Sky rangers team up with rangers from Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park to introduce visitors to the wonders of the night sky. A ranger program will be followed by stargazing and telescope viewing. The location will rotate among the three parks and the start time will vary with the time of sunset.

Moab rock climbing and canyoneering are one of a kind experiences from novice to expert. Moab's water carved stone is perfect for canyoneering; while, the sandstone of the rock formation make it perfect for those who love to or want to try their hand at rock climbing - even the kids can do it.
Sand Flats Recreation Area
Located on the heart of the Colorado Plateau you will find some of the best camping, 4x4 trails, and bike trails. Head over to the La Sal Mountains for an experience you won't forget.
Drive Along a Scenic Byway
With a choice of three breathtaking and exciting drives for the best of sightseers, driving along one of Moab's scenic byways is a must see experience. Drive Upper Colorado on U-128, Lower Colorado River U-279 and/or Dead Horse Point U-313. Don't forget your camera.
Explore the Slot Canyons
Created by water and wind, these "slots" are one of nature’s finest displays and they’re super fun to explore! Many require a small drive to get to, or take a canyoneering tour to skip the stress of navigating the canyons yourself!
Fun on the Water
Head out to one of the area lakes for boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and other fun. Enjoy great views of the canyons and fall colors while out on the water, and stop on the shore to take advantage of one of the area campgrounds.
